Retired Hipster would love for you to share your great story and works with us and the rest of the world. In fact, we’ll take the best stories and bring them to life with you. If you wish to send us your book proposal for consideration, please read our submission guidelines.
General Submission
Guidelines for Authors, Artists and Photographers
We want to know about you. We enjoy a rich, collaborative relationship with artists, photographers and authors who regard Retired Hipster as a dependable and reliable partner in the publication of their ideas. If it makes us laugh, inspires us, and blows us away, then you're in the right place. We welcome your submissions to be considered for publication by Retired Hipster.
Authors: If you are an author with a book idea, we’d love to hear from you. We invite you to take a moment to familiarize yourself with our editorial mission, the books we publish, and the requirements we have for submitting manuscripts and proposals. Submissions may be sent via e-mail or regular mail (on a CD).
Complete manuscripts will require a longer response time. We suggest that you submit a synopsis, table of contents, and sample of your work first.
If you still wish to submit a full manuscript it should be typed, double-spaced and bear the author’s name, address and phone number in the upper right hand corner of each page. If you are submitting illustrated work, it should bear the illustrator’s name, address and phone number in the upper right hand corner of each page. While there are no specific criteria for subject matter or style, work that exhibits originality, energy and integrity are most likely to be selected.
We try to read all submissions promptly and will contact you within one month if we are interested in publishing your proposal. We're sorry, but we do not call if we're unable to use your submission. If you haven't heard from us within two months, you can assume we are not able to publish your manuscript. Please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope for regular mail submissions if you would like your work returned to you, otherwise it will not be returned.
Artists and Photographers: Provide us samples of your work or links where we can view your portfolio. If you are submitting illustrations, images, and photos of your work, they should include your name, address and phone number in the upper right-hand corner of each page. Please provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope for regular mail submissions if you would like your work returned to you, otherwise it will not be returned.
